Police officer stabbed in the neck in terrifying daylight attack | 9 News Australia
A South Australian Police officer is recovering in hospital after suffering a dangerous neck injury during a horrifying daylight attack in Elizabeth East, Adelaide.
Emergency services responded to multiple urgent public calls reporting a 27-year-old man armed with a knife along Main North Road. Northern District officers immediately confronted the suspect near Fairfield Road to neutralize the threat and protect the community. During the violent confrontation, the suspect stabbed a female police officer in the neck before being shot in the leg by responding police officers.
The injured female officer was rushed to hospital in a serious condition and underwent emergency surgery. Acting Assistant Commissioner David O’Donovan confirmed she is in high spirits despite facing a long recovery. The suspect was also taken into custody under police guard and treated for non-life-threatening injuries. He is expected to face severe criminal charges as Major Crime Detectives and Forensic Response teams continue their investigation at the scene.
