Thousands evacuate parts of France and Spain as wildfires continue
More than 300,000 people have been evacuated in France and Spain as fires continue to spread across towns in both countries.
“The situation remains very unfavourable,” French interior minister Laurent Nuñez said after what he described as “another difficult night” for fire crews battling a blaze that has burned 42,000 hectares.
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez visited fire-hit areas in central Ávila, where flames have devastated more than 50,000 hectares of countryside.
