A baby chimpanzee will be relocated to South Australia’s Monarto Safari Park following failed attempts to reunite the infant with her mother.
Rockhampton Zoo welcomed Cassie in June, but her mother Sile dropped her shortly after birth, leaving the newborn with a broken leg.
Zoo staff hand-reared the chimp before attempting to reunite Cassie with her mother, but they were unable to do so successfully.
She’ll head to South Australia in October where she’ll join a group of twelve other chimps.
