Aussie dollar surges against Yen as Japan lifts interest rates | Finance Report | ABC NEWS
The Australian dollar rose sharply against the yen as the Bank of Japan lifted interest rates to their highest level in three decades.
With two dissenters on the BoJ board, the lack of consensus is raising doubts about how committed the Japanese central bank is to hiking rates to curb higher inflation.
Elsewhere, the Bank of England kept rates on hold, while surging fuel prices as a result of the US-Iran war have led to Donald Trump’s approval ratings taking a massive hit.
The ASX, meanwhile, has dropped almost 4 per cent since the month began.
