Race to rescue hundreds of workers trapped in flooded Nepal tunnels

Rescue teams in Nepal are racing to free more than 930 workers believed to be trapped in at least six different hydropower projects destroyed in last week’s devastating flash flood.

The number of people killed in the disaster has risen to at least 903, while more than 4,200 remain missing in Nepal and Tibet – that figure includes 43 Australians.

Bad weather is slowing emergency crews’ progress, and operations have been suspended several times since Friday.
