Martin Dole named Northern Territory police commissioner after inquiry into recruitment | ABC NEWS
Martin Dole has been named the new Northern Territory police commissioner, seven months after the former commissioner was stood down. Michael Murphy was sacked after the NT’s Independent Commissioner Against Corruption found he engaged in “improper conduct” by helping recruit a good friend to a top job in the police force. Commissioner Murphy’s departure marked the second NT police commissioner to leave the force within two years, after Jamie Chalker was forced to retire during a period of escalating crime concerns in 2023. Deputy commissioner Martin Dole had been standing in as acting commissioner. He will be sworn in as police commissioner at the end October. By Sam Parry for ABC News Northern Territory.
