Queensland Police have confronted two teenagers, aged 15 and 17, allegedly carrying large machetes in separate incidents in Brisbane. Jack’s Law, made permanent 18 months ago in honour of Gold Coast teenager Jack Beasley who was fatally stabbed in 2019, has resulted in 200,000 people being wanded and scanned, with more than 1,400 weapons seized. Queensland’s crime victim data shows a 4.1 per cent decrease during David Crisafulli’s first year as Premier, though the state remains Australia’s crime capital.
