From pomp to policy: Trump to meet Starmer on last day of UK state visit
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer will host US President Donald Trump at Chequers, his country residence, for talks on issues ranging from security in Ukraine to trade.
Starmer’s key objective is to secure Trump’s pledge to cut tariffs.
The meeting takes place a day after a ceremonial welcome by King Charles, who praised Trump’s “personal commitment” to resolving global conflicts and also emphasised the importance of the trilateral AUKUS pact, which includes Australia.
Trump, in turn, described his second state visit to the UK as one of the “highest honours” of his life and heaped praise on Britain.
