Donald Trump’s film tariffs leave foreign studios in the lurch

United States President Donald Trump’s threats to impose tariffs on foreign films are starting to have an impact on the film and television industry.

Since Mr Trump’s announcement, many studios have reported a noticeable decline in bookings and inquiries, attributing this downturn to the uncertainty surrounding the potential tariffs.

“Prior to him posting that we had quite some big major features come to us looking for space,” West London Film Studios owner Frank Khalid told Sky News Australia.

As the industry begins to recover from COVID-19, the impact of these threats raises questions about future investments and production commitments.
