The prime minister departed for Washington on Sunday for his long-awaited in-person meeting with the US president on Tuesday (AEDT). The fate of the AUKUS defence agreement and tariffs are set to dominate the bilateral talks, but the prime minister will be hoping to avoid the criticism other world leaders have experienced during their encounters in the Oval Office.
