‘Blowing out candles and blowing up credibility’: Wells scrutinised over party meeting claims
It has been suggested that Prime Minister Anthony Albanese dismissed Communications Minister Anika Wells after a South Australian Labor MP declined to confirm claims used to justify taxpayer-funded travel.
Ms Wells has also not ruled out that a meeting during an official work trip may have taken place at a friend’s 40th birthday party.
Shadow Communications and Digital Safety Minister Sarah Henderson spoke on this.
“She’s trying to claim that this was official business, he has declined to corroborate her claim,” Ms Henderson said.
“It does not pass the pub test … partygoers were blowing out the candles while the minister was blowing up her credibility.”
