Australia officially recognises Palestine at UN General Assembly
Australia has formally recognised the state of Palestine.
Australia has become one of more than 150 countries to do so.
The move was previewed in August, but has officially been formalised in a joint government statement by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Foreign Minister Penny Wong in New York.
