Albanese and Trump in South Korea for APEC
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has arrived in South Korea for this year’s Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit where trade, technology and regional security are top of the agenda.
US President Donald Trump is also in Seoul, where an unresolved US – South Korea trade pact is expected to dominate discussions. Trump told reporters a new deal would be finalised “very soon”, after months of friction over steel tariffs and vehicle imports.
Leaders from 21 APEC economies will meet until Saturday, with talks set to be overshadowed by the US’ sweeping global tariff policy and its escalating trade standoff with China, a tension that’s threatening to reshape supply chains across the Asia-Pacific.
