What’s next for Gaza after UNGA ends without an Israel-Hamas peace deal?
The UN General Assembly has ended without a firm peace plan announced for the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza. So, what happens next?
US President Donald Trump told reporters, “it’s looking like we have a deal on Gaza”, but stopped short of offering any details.
In the coming days, Trump is due to meet Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who told the UN General Assembly on Friday the fight in Gaza must go on until Hamas is completely dismantled and vowed to “finish the job” as quickly as possible.
Israeli newspaper Haaretz cited sources saying Hamas had agreed in principle Hamas has offered to release all remaining hostages — only about 20 of whom are said to be alive out of a total of 48 — in exchange for Israel agreeing to end the war and withdrawing from Gaza.
A senior White House official said Trump’s meeting will aim to finalise a framework for the peace deal.
