‘We are bonded forever’: Artemis II crew reflect on their historic moon mission
Astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch and Jeremy Hansen returned from the Artemis II mission on Saturday morning.
Reflecting on the nearly 10-day journey around the moon and back to Earth, Commander Wiseman said, “no one down here is ever gonna know what the four of us just went through”.
“It’s a special thing to be a human and it’s a special thing to be on planet earth,” he added.
The Artemis II mission saw astronauts travel a total of 1,117,515km – further from Earth than any human before.
Mission specialist Christina Koch shared her impression, saying: “Earth was just this lifeboat, hanging undisturbingly in the universe.”
