An 18-year-old man was slashed across the face with a machete and beaten by a group of approximately 10 masked attackers outside a dessert bar in Oakley, Melbourne, around 8pm. The violent assault occurred in front of approximately 150 witnesses, causing chaos as diners fled the restaurant. The victim was hospitalised with non-life-threatening injuries while police conduct a manhunt for the balaclava-wearing attackers who fled the scene.
