‘War of attrition’: Iran simply must be last man standing against US
Foundations of Defence for Democracies Research Analyst Janatan Sayeh says this war for Iran is about outlasting the US in a more expensive campaign and getting Tehran back to the negotiating table.
“From their [Iran] end it’s a war of attrition,” Mr Sayeh told News24 host James Bolt.
“No matter what strategy the US uses, the idea is simply to bring Tehran back to the negotiating table.
“As long as they know for a fact the United States is not pursing regime change … it doesn’t really change their calculation in the long term.”
