Victoria to force social media giants to unmask anonymous online trolls
The Victorian government is introducing new laws to force social media companies to reveal the identities of anonymous users accused of online hate.
The reforms will give VCAT new powers to order platforms to identify accounts targeting people based on their race, religion or sexual orientation.
The Allan government will also remove legal barriers preventing families from suing social media and AI companies for alleged psychiatric harm caused to children.
Broader reforms for adult victims are also under consideration.
