Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenksyy demands security guarantees included in US peace plan
Ukraine’s president Volodymyr Zelenskyy says he believes his US counterpart Donald Trump wants an “understanding” reached over its peace plan by Christmas but warns there are still big gaps on some critical issues.
He says those security guarantees would be impossible without support from the US, Europe and all members of the ‘Coalition of the Willing’, including Australia and New Zealand.
Among the points Ukraine rejects is the Russian demand that Ukraine withdraws from the entire Donbas region, which the US has suggested could be turned into a ‘special economic zone’.
