Uber to introduce temporary surcharge in response to fuel crisis
Uber has announced it will soon be adding a temporary fuel surcharge to its fares in response to rising petrol prices.
From 15 April, rideshare passengers will pay an extra 5 cents per kilometre, which the company says will go directly to drivers to help offset the increased cost of fuel.
Trips taken in electric vehicles will be exempt.
Transport Workers’ Union national secretary Michael Kaine said the move would provide drivers with significant relief in the short term.
