Donald Trump says the US will extend its ceasefire with Iran at Pakistan’s request, while maintaining a blockade of Iranian ports and shipping.
In a social media post, President Trump wrote the ceasefire would continue “until such time as their proposal is submitted, and discussions are concluded”, with no fixed end date.
Iran’s chief negotiator has dismissed the extension as a ploy to buy time.
