But the UNESCO World Heritage site is also home to about 700 local residents, who live self-sufficiently off-grid, many reliant on diesel generators for electricity.

Growing uncertainty around fuel costs means powering their lives is becoming increasingly challenging, renewing calls for a renewable solution.
