Telstra delayed informing custodian of potential Triple Zero outage
Telstra did not act on repeated warnings to fix an impending issue with a piece of equipment and delayed informing the Triple Zero custodian of a possible outage, a parliamentary inquiry has heard.
The snap inquiry was set up in response to the ensuing outage, which left train networks in disarray and customers unable to dial Triple Zero.
Telstra conducted more than 630 welfare checks on customers whose Triple Zero calls could not be connected due to the outage, and revealed they ordinarily receive up to six welfare call checks per day.
