More support is needed for those grieving the loss of someone to suicide, according to new national research commissioned by Wesley Mission.
The study found that more than half of the 1,010 Australians surveyed reported a distinct lack of available assistance.
The organisation has hosted its annual suicide memorial service ahead of World Suicide Prevention Day, bringing people together to share their stories and remember those they have lost.
Anyone seeking crisis support can ring Lifeline on 13 11 14 or text 0477 13 11 14, the Suicide Call Back Service on 1300 659 467 and Kids Helpline on 1800 55 1800 (for young people aged up to 25).
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders can contact 13YARN on 13 92 76, Brother to Brother on 1800 435 799, or Yarning SafeNStrong on 1800 959 563.
