‘Regime destabilisation’: US strikes pave way for Iran to move toward new leadership

Former ambassador to Israel Dave Sharma discusses the future of the Iranian regime following the death of the Iranian Supreme Leader.

“It is momentous, this is obviously a much bigger operation than the one directed against Iranian nuclear targets,” Mr Sharma told Sky News Australia.

“There are parts of this operation that are geared not only towards degrading Iran’s nuclear and ballistic missile capabilities, but regime destabilisation.

“[President Trump] has encouraged the Iranian people … to basically recognise that the time is up for the Islamic Republic and to cooperate with a transition to a new form of government.”
