‘Recurring theme’: Melbourne protests taking up valuable police resourcing

Liberal Senator Jane Hume has hailed a Victorian Police commander after his “extraordinary” press conference following the violent Melbourne riots over the weekend.

“It was an extraordinary press conference,” Ms Hume told Sky News Australia.

“You could sense his emotion and his frustration.

“This is now becoming a recurring theme in Victoria; police are telling us they have spent 25,000 policing hours in the last two years resourcing protests in the Victorian CBD.”
