Passengers celebrate the first trip on Sydney’s newest rail line
It was an early start for thousands of passengers eager to board the first metro trip from Bankstown.
The Southwest Metro link has ten stations, some of which have been closed since construction began two years ago.
It’s the third instalment of the Sydney Metro Network, with another line connecting the newly opened Western Sydney airport set for next year and another connecting Parramatta to the CBD in 2032.
