‘Paid to everyone’: Donald Trump promises $2000 tariff dividend for Americans
US President Donald Trump has vowed to give most Americans a $2000 payment as a tariff “dividend”.
It follows doubts raised by the Supreme Court over the legality of the President’s authority to impose sweeping tariffs on most nations.
He made the promise on Truth Social, declaring: “People that are against tariffs are fools. We are now the richest, most respected country in the world.
“A dividend of at least $2000 a person (not including high-income people) will be paid to everyone.”
President Trump has not clarified when people will receive them.
