NSW government moving to crack down on e-bike reforms

The New South Wales government is moving to crack down on e-bike laws after a rider died in Sydney’s CBD on Tuesday.

The victim, a man in his thirties, was struck and killed by a garbage truck near Central Station.

NSW Premier Chris Minns announced the state would seek to ban bikes with a high-power output, but some local councils are calling for further action, including prohibiting under 17-year-olds from riding e-bikes.

Others suggested reforms including education and implementing a license.
