New laws planned to stop weaponisation of child support
Australian parents — mostly women — are owed $2 billion in child support, and that’s just the amount the federal government knows about.
Last year, an Ombudsman investigation found widespread weaponisation of the nation’s child support scheme to enact financial abuse.
The government has now moved to reform the scheme to protect parents.
