Nepal-Tibet floods and glacier collapse: Expert signals warning beyond the Himalayas
The catastrophic glacier collapse that devastated communities on the Nepal-Tibet border has highlighted a growing danger facing mountain regions around the world, as experts warn climate change is altering the frozen landscapes that help hold them together.
At least 1,400 people remain missing after a catastrophic flash flood swept through communities along the Nepal-Tibet border, killing at least 472 people and submerging villages.
Thirty-nine Australians are among those reported missing as rescue efforts continue.
Experts also warn that the danger is not over as authorities signal alarm over the possibility of another disaster in the region.
