Mothers join young protesters in Indonesia’s capital | ABC NEWS
Amid a wave of youth-led protests, a group of Indonesian mothers is joining young demonstrators in Jakarta.
From singing protest songs to handing out free food and drinks, they’re showing solidarity while raising concerns of their own.
The Indonesian government told the ABC that they respect the right of students and young protesters to express their aspirations through demonstrations as part of democracy.
They also said various demands raised serve as a “reminder” that government policies must be continually evaluated and that the benefits of development must reach the public.
