Disturbing new footage of the machete fight that shut down a Melbourne shopping centre has emerged from one of the gang members’ own phones.
Broadmeadows Central, 15km north of Melbourne, was sent into lockdown on Friday night as two machete-wielding gang members swung the sharp-edged weapons at one another while shoppers and retail staff hid inside stores.
Footage emerged on Friday evening, filmed by a bystander, that showed two men dressed in balaclavas attacking each other with machetes.
The scenes were described as “like a movie” as screams rang out from inside locked stores at the Pascoe Vale Road centre.
In a chilling development, footage has been shared online from one of the gang members’ own phones.
It shows him running through Broadmeadows Central as bystanders flee before confronting a man dressed in black and carrying a machete of his own.
