‘It’s really difficult’: Writer explores wrongful convictions in latest book
Author and journalist Neil Mercer says it was difficult to explore cases of wrongful convictions in his new book ‘Falsely Convicted’ but states “journalists have a role to play”.
“It’s really difficult … they’ve been convicted by the state, they’ve been charged by the police, they’ve gone to the courts, judges and juries have said you’re guilty,” Mr Mercer told News24 host Sharri Markson.
“To question that is really difficult. But I think journalists do have a role to play here in fighting for people who may have been wrongly convicted.”
