Isis doctor alive; Ukraine protests Russian water polo team; teen e-bike crash | 7NEWS
Adelaide-trained doctor Tareq Kamleh has been found alive and imprisoned in Iraq nearly a decade after being presumed dead. He studied at the University of Adelaide and worked at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital before moving to Syria in 2015. There, he became an Islamic State operative and appeared in ISIS propaganda videos. Concerns have been raised that Kamleh may attempt to enter Australia.
Ukrainians protested outside Sydney Olympic Park during the Water Polo World Cup against the return of Russian athletes to international sport. Demonstrators held photos of 650 Ukrainian athletes killed since Moscow’s invasion. The Russian women’s water polo team is the first to compete under the Russian flag at an international competition since the invasion began.
A 15-year-old boy suffered serious injuries after being thrown from an electric dirt bike that collided with a ute in Dee Why overnight. This incident has prompted renewed calls from the local council for better e-bike regulation.
