Is Trump satisfied with Australia’s defence investment?
United States President Donald Trump has heaped praise on Prime Minister Anthony Albanese during what appeared to be a very warm first visit to the White House, with successes notched on both sides.
The highly anticipated bilateral meeting took 10 months to secure, but Albanese has emerged with a new economic deal and strengthened ties to Australia’s closest ally.
When asked by SBS Chief Political Correspondent Anna Henderson if he was satisfied with Australia’s defence investments, Trump responded: “I’d always like more but they (Australians) have to do what they have to do.”
Trump went on to list several defence projects Australia is working on, adding “they’ve been great” and “the military has been very strong”.
