Iranian state TV has aired video purportedly showing soldiers seizing container ships in the Strait of Hormuz.
The IRGC says it seized container ships MSC Francesca and Empaminondas in the Strait of Hormuz.
Montenegro’s minister of maritime affairs has confirmed the seizure of the Panama-flagged MSC Francesca container ship.
In a statement, the Guards said the ships were detained for “operating without the required authorisation and for manipulating navigation systems,” adding that this allegedly endangered maritime safety.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said earlier US President Donald Trump does not view the seizure of a Panama-flagged cargo ship and a Liberian cargo ship by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a violation of the ceasefire.
