Illegal e-bikes crushed in Blacktown safety crackdown | 7NEWS
Authorities in Blacktown have destroyed 23 illegal e-bikes seized from the Northern Beaches as part of a crackdown on modified machines, including one capable of reaching 90 kilometres per hour. St Vincent’s Hospital has reported a 22% increase in e-bike injuries compared to last year, with more than 360 adult patients treated and nearly half requiring a trauma response, particularly for brain injuries. Despite a June review recommending a minimum age limit between 12 and 16, no age restrictions currently exist for riding e-bikes.
