Greens senator confronts Woodside CEO about gas export tax
Woodside Energy CEO Liz Westcott has voiced her support for the current system as support continues to grow for a tax on gas exports.
Speaking to investors at the Woodside’s annual general meeting, Westcott said “the current tax system is giving Australians a fair return.”
The senate is currently holding an inquiry into a possible tax on all gas exports from Australia, with testimonies from economists, environmental charities and gas producers.
Greens senator Steph Hodgins-May appeared at the meeting to directly ask Westcott some questions about the tax after Westcott declined an invitation to speak at the inquiry.
