Government considering building new oil refinery

The federal government is exploring plans to build Australia’s first new oil refinery since the 1960s, in a move that could cost up to $10 billion as concerns mount over the nation’s fuel security.

The Prime Minister is currently in talks with energy companies to gauge their interest in the massive infrastructure project, amid ongoing disruptions to global trade and escalating tensions in the Middle East.

Australia currently has just two oil refineries remaining after eight facilities closed in the early 2000s. One refinery operates in Brisbane, while the other is located in Geelong. #oil #oilrefinery #petrol #fuel #australia
