Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy enters prison for five-year sentence
Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy has begun his five-year prison sentence in Paris.
He was found guilty last month of criminal conspiracy over attempts to raise his 2007 presidential election campaign funds from Libya.
Hundreds of supporters chanted his name and sang the French national anthem as he left his home.
He will be the nation’s first former leader jailed since Nazi collaborator Marshal Petain after World War II.
