The NFL’s first regular-season game in Australia kicked off this morning, with a crowd of 100,000 fans cheering on their teams.

The San Francisco 49ers took on the Los Angeles Rams at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, where fans filled the stands backing their sides, marking one of the nine international matches scheduled for this season.

The NFL has a four-year contract with Victoria to host at least two games in Melbourne, with an option for a third, and is part of the NFL’s International Series, which started in 2007 at London’s Wembley Stadium.
