As more migrants fill Australia’s capital cities more Australians are pushed out

IPA Research Assistant Jordan Abou-Zeid says “86 per cent of migrants” who come to Australia reside in our capital cities, with half of that percentage living in either Sydney or Melbourne, pushing other Australians further onto the outskirts.

“What we know is 86 per cent of migrants that come to Australia come to one of our capital cities,” Mr Abou-Zeid told News24 host Jaimee Rogers.

“About half of that come to either Sydney or to Melbourne.

“Combined with Australians more and more leaving those cities, what we’re seeing is the Australians who made our cities what they are are being pulled further and further away from their heart.”
