Emmanuel Macron faces resignation calls after latest PM resignation

French President Emmanuel Macron is facing calls to resign in the wake of Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu’s recent resignation.

The French President’s first prime minister says he no longer understands Mr Macron’s decision, adding that he is fuelling political tension in the country.

Mr Lecornu is the fifth prime minister to step down in two years.

If Emmanuel Macron does not call new elections, he will be in power until 2027.
