Local businesses file lawsuit against Mamdani’s city-owned grocery store plan
The New York City ‘socialist grocery’ experiment could soon land in court as local grocers are preparing to sue over Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s plan to open five city-owned stores.
They say it’s tough enough to compete without City Hall using taxpayer money to compete against them.
Mr Mamdani has addressed the legal threat against his plans, declaring he’s not backing down despite the lawsuit alleging minority owned businesses are being threatened by the city-run stores.
