A six-month study at a major Victorian hospital reveals that 26% of over 400 e-scooter injuries involved riders under 16 years of age, with more than 61% of all injured riders not wearing protective equipment. The research highlights significant safety concerns ahead of the Christmas period, with injured riders facing average out-of-pocket costs of $600 and many young users riding illegally below the minimum age of 16.
