Colombian president blasts Donald Trump as a ‘barbarian’ following drug vessel strikes
Colombian President Gustavo Petro has sensationally slammed US President Donald Trump as a “barbarian” in a recent interview.
He told NBC News why his government decided to stop sharing information with the United States over its lethal strikes on boats allegedly carrying illicit drugs.
During a speech to the United Nations in September, the Colombian President repeatedly compared President Trump to Adolf Hitler.
The UK has suspended intelligence sharing with the US over concerns about its recent strikes on drug boats.
It marks a significant break from its closest ally, previously helping the US locate vessels suspected of carrying drugs.
This comes as US forces killed four people in a strike carried out on an alleged drug-trafficking boat in the Caribbean Sea.
Since September, the US military has destroyed at least 21 vessels in international waters, killing at least 80 people.
