Andy Burnham, the former Manchester Mayor and sole candidate to replace Sir Keir Starmer, has announced plans to create ‘Number 10 North’, a new Downing Street team based in northern England. The initiative aims to shift political power beyond London, drive economic growth across the UK, and rebalance national governance. Burnham could assume the role of Prime Minister as early as 20 July.
