Australian mum’s emotional plea at UN over planned social media ban

Emma Mason’s daughter Tilly was only 15 when she took her own life which Mason said was “enabled by social media”. Speaking at the UN General Assembly in support of Australia’s social media ban for under-16s, Mason told leaders at the summit, her daughter’s death was a result of bullying and and self-harm material circulating on social media.
“Social media giants must take responsibility,” Mason told the audience at the Protecting Children in the Digital Age event.
