An extraordinary international rescue operation is unfolding deep inside a remote cave system in Laos, where seven local villagers have been trapped for over a week. The miners originally entered the dangerous cavern network in search of gold deposits when sudden, torrential rainfall triggered flash flooding, completely sealing their only exit.
In a massive breakthrough, a rescue crew successfully located five of the miners alive on a high ledge.
